WKU Women’s Alliance to Host the Kentucky Commission on Women’s BRADD Area Regional Meetings
Frankfort, KY: The Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW), an office attached to the Office of the Governor, is pleased that the Women’s Alliance of Western Kentucky University will be hosting two BRADD area Regional Meetings – Thursday, September 28th, 6:30pm – 9:00pm (CT), in the Fellowship Hall at Faith United Methodist Church, 380 Veterans Memorial Lane, Bowling Green, Kentucky and Tuesday, October 10, 2006, 6:30pm – 9:00pm (CT) at the Glasgow Regional Center, 500 Hilltopper Way, Room 131, Glasgow, Kentucky. All persons in the BRADD area interested in helping combat the low ranking of women in Kentucky are encouraged to attend.
The meetings will focus on projects for the BRADD region in the areas of education, equity, leadership, economic sufficiency, and health and well-being. A special computer based Adult Education Program by the FDIC titled, “Money Smart” will also be introduced to those in attendance. “The impact of this meeting will be felt across the Commonwealth at the 2007 Governor’s Conference on Kentucky’s Women,” said Glenda R. Woods, KCW Executive Director. We are proud to be working with many organizations, city government and businesses in Bowling Green and Glasgow to improve the status of Kentucky’s women. The Regional Meetings will occur in all of Kentucky’s 15 Area Development Districts during 2006.
Kentucky’s women rank 49th in the percentage of women with Bachelor’s degrees, 48th in political participation, and 50th in health and well-being. For more information on the local meeting, contact Susan Morris, 800-882-7482.
