FRANKFORT, KY: The Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW) will present the 2007 Governor’s Conference on Kentucky’s Women July 13th at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville.
The Conference, dedicated to Kentucky’s Military Women: Past and Present, will feature nationally known speakers including Shinae Chun, Director, U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau. Governor and Mrs. Ernie Fletcher are scheduled to address conference attendees, as are Colonel Holly M. Stone, United States Air Force, and Dr. Velma Speight-Buford, North Carolina A&T Board of Trustees Chair.
Conference concurrent session topics will focus on “Being Healthy,” “Being Wealthy” and “Being Wise.” Special sessions will be presented for ages 17 and younger.
The conference awards luncheon will highlight and recognize outstanding contributions in the areas of advocacy, workplace, volunteerism, and lifetime achievement. “Kentucky’s finest will be awarded for their local efforts to improve the status of Kentucky’s women and girls. Our KCW Regional Coordinators and Commissioners are impressive, unselfish individuals who are continually working for the good of their neighbors. We are proud to recognize these “true contributors” for their dedication to programs and projects that are making an impact in our communities,” said Glenda R. Woods, KCW Executive Director.
“In addition to the exemplary speakers and presenters the conference will offer, we are very fortunate to have Ms. Sonia Sanders, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, coordinating the Kentucky Business and Crafts Exhibit Extravaganza. Truly, each segment of the Governor’s Conference will add a tremendous value to the overall event,” Woods said.
