KENTUCKY COMMISSION ON WOMEN—CALL FOR PORTRAIT ARTIST
Frankfort, Ky.: The Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW) is now accepting entries for portrait artist through October, 1, 2005. The artist selected will depict a portrait or portraits of Kentucky women for the Kentucky Women Remembered Watercolor exhibit.
Each year KCW invites watercolor artists from across the Commonwealth to participate in the Call for Portrait Artist. Thousands of entries are received and one Kentucky artist is chosen to do the portrait or portraits.
The selected artist will be notified by October 15, 2005. The artist will have portrait material available for review on November 15, 2005 with an expected completion date of February 1, 2006. A press conference will be held in March 2006 to unveil the artist’s portrait(s) in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort with Governor Ernie Fletcher and First Lady Glenna Fletcher attending. The portrait(s) will then be placed on permanent exhibit in the State Capitol’s Northwest Wing.

The KCW works to improve the status of women in Kentucky, educates the public about issues and challenges pertaining to women, and acts as an informational clearinghouse for women across the Commonwealth.
