Governor Ernie Fletcher appoints Executive Director to the Commission on Women

 Frankfort, KY:    Governor Ernie Fletcher today announced the appointment of Glenda Woods as Executive Director to the Commission on Women.
 
Ms. Woods brings years of leadership and public relations skills to the Commission.  She has been an employee at Morehead State University for eight years, most recently having served as the Regional Campus Coordinator for the Baccalaureate Nursing Program.  Prior to that position, Ms. Woods was an Admissions Counselor.
 
Ms. Woods has traveled extensively in her public relations career; she has served as the campaign coordinator for the United Way of the River Cities, Huntington, W.V.; as well as a television program host for WSAZ in Huntington. Ms. Woods is currently pursuing her Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Business and Communications.
 
“Glenda Woods possesses the leadership skills and values that will allow her to take Kentucky Commission on Women to the next level,” stated Governor Ernie Fletcher.  “I look forward to working with her and the Commission to promote the continuing improvement of women’s status in the Commonwealth.”
 
Ms. Woods will begin with the Commission on Women on May 1st. 
 
“I am committed to serving others and improving the well being of women and families in Kentucky,” stated Ms. Woods. “It is a great honor to be chosen to serve the public in this important manner.”
 
The Kentucky Commission on Women is mandated to promote, encourage, and provide advisory assistance in the establishment of local volunteer community improvement programs for, and in the interest of, women.  The Commission also consults with the Governor on important women’s issues.
 
The Kentucky Commission on Women will be located on the second floor of the Capitol Tower Plaza.
