Ky. Unbridled Spirit Promotion Hits Wal-Mart Stores
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Department of Tourism and Pepsi are rolling out a new joint merchandise promotion in Wal-Mart stores throughout the commonwealth.
All 77 Wal-Mart stores in Kentucky, including Super Centers, will display “Kentucky Unbridled Spirit” T-shirts and Pepsi products in shared stands that will be strategically located in the stores’ “Action Alley.”
Four colorful new T-shirt designs geared to the summer season will be featured in the highly visible displays that will also contain Aquafina bottled water and other Pepsi beverages. In the fall, new T-shirt designs and colors with a back-to-school theme will continue the promotion, said Brad Caldwell, director of strategic partnerships for the tourism department.
“Teamwork between Wal-Mart and Kentucky will continue the focus on regional pride that the Unbridled Spirit campaign is all about,” Caldwell said.
Wal-Mart‘s Regional Operations Support Director Jerry Peacock stated, “Wal-Mart is excited and proud to build a partnership with the state of Kentucky and greatly appreciates the opportunity to offer our customers this merchandise.”
The tourism department joined Pepsi in a previous 2006 “T-shirt in a Bottle” promotion, which featured prizes of Unbridled Spirit T-shirts plus gift certificates for two-night lodge room stays for two in Kentucky State Resort Parks. Winners received their prizes in bottles of Diet Pepsi or Aquafina sold from vending machines in 21 welcome centers and rest areas throughout the state.
