First Lady Honors Photo Contest Winner
FRANKFORT, Ky. - Kentucky First Lady Glenna Fletcher has presented the winner of the first “Unbridled Spirit of Autumn” photo contest with the first-place prize.
At a ceremony in Frankfort, Rosemary Storie of Burkesville received the prize of a week’s stay in a Kentucky resort park for her photo of changing foliage at Dale Hollow State Park golf course.
Storie’s photo was chosen from more than 900 entries in the first of what will be a series of seasonal picture contests sponsored by the state Department of Tourism.
Storie, 58, a Cincinnati native who has worked as an interior designer in Burkesville in south central Kentucky for the past 14 years, took up photography seriously about three years ago. She has previously won two photo competitions sponsored by the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service.
“Kentucky is a beautiful state with its rolling hills, white picket fences and scenic horse farms,” Mrs. Fletcher said. “It’s a pleasure to be part of a project that promotes our beautiful landscape.” Storie said she was honored to meet the First Lady.
The winning photos in the contests will be used to promote tourism in Kentucky in publications, advertising, pictures and signage.
Details on the winter contest will be forthcoming soon.
