The City of Newport, Ky. has announced that it has added an exciting event to its list of outstanding riverfront festivals at the Festival Park on Riverboat Row, just below Newport on the Levee and across the bridge from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.
With the backdrop of the Ohio River, the dramatic Cincinnati skyline, the lights, music, excitement and fun of the Levee just above the Festival Park, thousands of Christmas lights and a 'mountain' of powdery snow, Newport's Winter Wonderland debuts on Friday, Nov. 25 and will continue through New Year's Eve Weekend. The event is designed to create family memories and family fun.
Newport's Winter Wonderland guests will be able to enjoy the new holiday festival on Fridays, from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.; Saturdays from noon - 9 p.m.; and Sundays from noon - 8 p.m. Admission for the event will be $5 for adults; $3 for children.

Guests will be able to purchase their freshly-cut Christmas trees, ride on Santa's River Sleigh, have their photo taken with Santa, sing along with holiday-themed carolers, make snowmen, visit with animals at a petting zoo, perhaps whisper a personal Christmas wish to Santa, and dig for treasures in the snow. There will be sled-riding and festival-type rides for the younger children and of course, steaming whipped hot chocolate, freshly-roasted nuts and treats of all types. Plenty of parking will be available for the winter festival at Newport on the Levee'sGarage, their ground parking lot just to the east of the Levee, and the ground parking lot at 4th & Columbia Streets.
City of Newport Mayor Tom Guiduigli enthusiastically announced the new festival. "There is no other holiday event like this in the country! We'll have fresh snow, freshly-cut trees, the lights of the city and the Christmas lights on the Festival Park hillside. Truly, a new holiday tradition has begun, and we're excited to be able to offer this event!"
Commissioner Jan Knepshield added his thoughts. "I can see our family coming down to the river the day after Thanksgiving, playing in the freshly-made snow, getting our photos taken with Santa with the city and riverview as our backdrop and picking out our Christmas tree. I see us going back a few times in fact. The idea is so different and Christmas-y."
Guests can enter the Winter Wonderland event through the Newport Port of Entry on Dave Cowans Drive, or at 3rd & Columbia Streets, and of course, directly from Newport on the Levee.
