Travel Commissioner Cooper Named to Travel South USA Board

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Commissioner Mike Cooper of the Kentucky Department of Travel was recently named to the Travel South USA board of directors.  Travel South USA, headquartered in Atlanta, is the official regional destination marketing organization for the 12 southern state tourism offices. Cooper will serve as secretary for the board for the 2009-2010 fiscal year and assumes the position immediately. 

Cooper, who was appointed by Governor Steve Beshear as department commissioner in 2008, heads the agency which is in the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.
 
Travel South USA is the official destination regional marketing organization for the South and promotes, fosters, and encourages travel to and within member states.  Besides Kentucky, member states include Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.  For additional information visit www.TravelSouthUSA.org.

Cooper is a lifelong resident of Kentucky and currently resides in Lexington.
