Columbus's Nina has proven windfall for Maysville
MAYSVILLE, Ky. - An exact replica of The Nina Ship (Columbus's favorite ship) has been docked in Maysville since Wednesday Nov. 9. The ship opened to the general public and school groups on Thursday Nov. 10. To date, approximately 3,500 school students have visited the ship. More than 1,500 people visited the ship on Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 12 & 13) alone for a total of 5,200 people.
Many of our visitors have been from Central Kentucky, the result of press releases and paid advertisement published in the Lexington Herald Leader.
To learn more about The Nina, visit www.thenina.com or visit our website at www.cityofmaysville.com. The ship departs the evening of Thursday Nov. 17. It is open each day 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This has proven to be a windfall for the community, school districts and tourism department, said Marla Toncray Baxter, Assistant Director of Tourism for the Maysville-Mason County Tourism Commission.
