Frankfort, KY (Nov. 10, 2004) Whitehaven Welcome Center, located in Paducah, Kentucky, welcomed Commerce Cabinet Deputy Secretary Derrick Ramsey Tuesday, November 9.   Deputy Secretary Ramsey was requested by the staff to work a day at the center after reaching 100 percent participation in a charitable campaign.   Tourism Commissioner Randy Fiveash kicked off the reward program spending the day at the Williamsburg Welcome Center last week.

Commissioner Fiveash challenged Tourism’s eight Welcome Centers to achieve 100 percent participation in this year’s Kentucky Employees Charitable Campaign (KECC).  Welcome Centers who meet the challenge get to pick an executive staff member to work a day at their center. Williamsburg, Whitehaven and Franklin Welcome Centers have achieved the goal thus far and more Welcome Centers are expected to reach 100 percent.

The Commissioner greeted visitors, helped distribute information at the welcome center desk and personally thanked the staff for their participation in KECC and their service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

“I am thrilled that our welcome centers are achieving this goal in reaching a 100 percent participation,” Commissioner Fiveash said.  “It was great to be with the folks in Williamsburg and to be part of their every day operation and I’m sure Deputy Secretary Ramsey enjoyed Whitehaven as well.”

The Whitehaven Welcome Center is located on exit seven on I-24 east.  Their phone number is (270) 554-2077 and the manager for the Whitehaven center is Rose Morgan.
