Frankfort, KY (Nov. 17, 2004) Kentucky has once again made the Southeast Tourism Society's (STS) Top 20 events list, competing with events in 11 states. This year events in the Commonwealth made the Top 20 events list 11 out of 12 months. STS named the 37th Annual Frontier Christmas event as one of the Top 20 events in December. Frontier Christmas takes place December 4 and 5, in Historic Washington, Kentucky.
The event takes place in Washington's scenic village. Visitors can expect to step back in time, as the event is an 18th century setting. Nine musuems with holly decked mantles, pine-scented rooms and candle-lit windows will be open for viewing. The event will also include traditional decorations, crafts and demonstrations, strolling musicians and carolers, muzzle-loaders and frontiersmen, a Christmas play and a Vesper Service.
Visitors can also shop in numerous histoic buildings which offer a wide variety of antiques, crafts, antique carousel horses, fiesta ware, pottery, jewelry, glassware, silver and much more.
For more information on this award winning festival call the Washington Log Visitor's Center, 606-759-7423.
STS chooses the Top 20 events each month and publishes the winners' quarterly. They have done so since 1985, awarding only the best events across the southeast. In Kentucky alone there were over 700 festivals listed this year on the Kentucky Department of Tourism's online Calendar of Events at www.kentuckytourism.com.
