Frankfort, KY (June 21, 2004) Press trips arranged by the Department of Tourism aim to increase tourism in Kentucky.  The editor of Essentially America, Mary Moore Mason, visited Kentucky to learn what the state has to offer.  Mason toured popular vacation spots the first week of June including the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea, Renfro Valley, Lake Cumberland, Mammoth Cave, Covington, Louisville, Frankfort and Lexington.

Essentially America is a quarterly magazine published in the United Kingdom and is its only consumer magazine dedicated to travel in the United States and Canada.

Trips such as these are made possible due to teamwork with the Kentucky Department of Tourism, area attractions, hotels and Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

Media press kits are mailed out annually in November to attract travel writers nationally and internationally.  The media press kits encourage travel writers to visit Kentucky resulting in increased media coverage.
