Kentucky Area Development Districts plug into resources
FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 26, 2010) – The Cabinet for Economic Development is kicking off its 2010 Small Business Connections Forum Series in Russell Springs on Thursday, April 22. The free conference will provide an opportunity for business owners in the Lake Cumberland Area Development District to learn about federal, state and local resource organizations that provide financing, marketing and other services to help small businesses grow.
In addition to presentations on the Cabinet’s small and minority business, procurement assistance, international trade and small business advocacy services, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of entrepreneurs currently operating a small business in the region. Additionally, there will be five concurrent workshops focusing on topics such as workforce development; finance & venture capital; business planning and market research; state/regional/local resources; licensing/permits and taxes; and a “mini start-up slam” for those who may be ready to launch their business during the event.
“Regional entrepreneurs shouldn’t miss this chance to learn about a wealth of small business resources available to them from the local, regional and state levels,” said John E. Cole III, director of the Cabinet for Economic Development’s Small Business Services Division. “Whether you’re currently in business or thinking about starting a business, this forum is a perfect opportunity to gain additional information about programs that can help you in today’s tough business environment.”
A “Small Business Marketplace” of service providers and vendors allied to the small business community will also be on hand to share information and answer questions throughout the event. The Russell Springs small business conference will be held in the Russell County Auditorium/Natatorium Complex, located at 2167 South Highway 127. The forum will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDT and include a free lunch sponsored by the Lake Cumberland Area Development District. Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. CDT.
Advance pre-registration is required due to limited seating. Attendees can pre-register online at http://www.thinkkentucky.com/smbdevents/RegMain.aspx?tid=14 or by contacting Darlene Barber with the Cabinet for Economic Development’s Small Business Services Division at (800) 626-2250.
