New corporate office to serve North and South American markets, create 98 jobs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 21, 2010) – Gov. Steve Beshear and Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson today announced Dometic Corporation will relocate its Americas headquarters operation from Elkhart, Ind., to Louisville, Ky.  The move will result in 98 new high-paying, professional jobs for Kentucky and a more than $4.1 million investment.

Kentucky is fast becoming the top choice location for many corporate headquarter operations and the relocation of Dometic’s Americas corporate office is yet another success to celebrate,” said Gov. Beshear. “The creation of nearly 100 new high-paying jobs and an investment of more than $4.1 million will provide a significant economic boost to the region.  It is the very reason why it is so important for state and local governments to partner with the private sector to bring these opportunities to fruition.”

Dometic is a leading U.S. manufacturer of marine, RV and medical refrigeration products, climate control systems, awnings, sanitation systems and other accessory products.   The company plans to locate its new Louisville corporate office, which will house executive leadership, mid-level and key support teams, to serve both the North and South American markets.

“The Dometic Group Board of Directors is pleased to announce Louisville as our new Dometic Americas headquarters location,” said Doug Whyte, president of Dometic Americas.  “We are grateful to the Governor, the Mayor and GLI for their excellent support and assistance throughout this process.  We believe Louisville is the right place to continue our company's growth and we look forward to being a part of this dynamic community. Our leadership team is excited about the opportunity to commence our business operations in Louisville as soon as possible.”

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved Dometic Corporation for tax incentives up to $3 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program.  The incentive can be earned over a 10-year period through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments.

Louisville is a city where businesses are growing and prospering. We have a quality workforce and a wonderful quality of life,” said Mayor Abramson. “I know Dometic is going to find continued success here and I am pleased to welcome them to Possibility City.”

“We welcome Dometic as it makes its new home in Louisville,” said Joe Reagan, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “The company is bringing good jobs and investment to the community, and in return, Louisville is providing the business climate and talent to help the company flourish. It’s these kinds of partnerships that are helping our region emerge from the recession poised for growth.”
