Gov. Beshear Announces Lentus to Locate Distribution Center in Elizabethtown, Create 14 Jobs

Distributor of Dow Corning products to invest $1.2 million in the Commonwealth

FRANKFORT Ky. (July 13, 2012) – Governor Steve Beshear today announced Lentus LLC will establish a 28,000-square-foot distribution facility off South Dixie Highway in Elizabethtown, creating 14 jobs and investing $1.2 million in the Commonwealth.

“Lentus demonstrates why Kentucky’s reputation continues to grow as an ideal location for distribution companies with our pro-business climate and unsurpassed logistical advantages and infrastructure,” Gov. Beshear said. “We’re thrilled to partner with Lentus and are excited about the creation of more than a dozen new jobs in Elizabethtown.”

Lentus is the master distributor of Dow Corning Sealant products. A subsidiary of Elizabethtown-based Accumetric LLC, Lentus will package and ship sealant products to customers throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.  

“We appreciate the confidence our state and local government has shown by making these tax incentives available to our new company,” said Jim Hartlage, member and owner of Lentus LLC. “This assistance will be of value by providing what is essentially precious added investment capital to a fledgling company intent on growth. As a long-time corporate citizen and resident of Kentucky and Hardin County, it is gratifying to know the state recognizes and extends assistance to small startups. We have all read about incentives offered to attract larger companies, but to offer incentives to a small startup is an encouraging sign of our government’s interest in all businesses large and small.” 

To encourage the investment and job growth in Elizabethtown, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $200,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets. 

“This is an exciting investment in Elizabethtown by Lentus,” said Sen. Dennis Parrett, of Elizabethtown. “Our community will reap the benefits of new jobs, economic growth and development. Lentus’ decision to locate its packaging and shipping facility here speaks well of our workforce. I applaud Gov. Beshear for taking the lead to support this industry, their employees and their families.”

“This announcement is good news for our community, especially for the 14 families who will benefit from the jobs Lentus is creating,” said Rep. Jimmie Lee, of Elizabethtown. “I want to thank the company for making this investment, and I’m happy that the state could help make it possible. Investments like these are key as Kentucky’s economy continues to recover.”

“I’m very excited and honored to have Lentus locate here in Elizabethtown,” said Elizabethtown Mayor Tim Walker. “The local economy will receive a boost by the new jobs they will create, and we believe this important investment reflects the support that the local community exhibits for industrial development.”
