Manufacturing facility will create 250 new jobs for Western Kentucky

Frankfort, Ky.  – Governor Ernie Fletcher and Cabinet for Economic Development Secretary Gene Strong announced today the decision by Benson International, Inc., a manufacturer of steel and aluminum truck trailers and bodies, to locate a new $10 million facility in the Trigg County Industrial Park creating 250 new full-time jobs for Kentuckians.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the workforce in Trigg County.  I want to thank Benson International, Inc. for choosing Kentucky as the location for this economic development project,” said Governor Fletcher.  “My administration will continue our commitment to providing more jobs and opportunity for the families of the Commonwealth.”

With nearly 40 years of experience building rugged and reliable transportation equipment, Benson International is now one of the largest custom trailer and body builders in the business.  Currently operating plants in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Tennessee, the company’s new 180,000 square foot facility located on 14 acres in Cadiz will house two complete production lines.

“While Benson International has always been a significant part of our family of companies in the past, we are developing and executing a plan to make it a more significant part of our future,” stated James H. “Buck” Harless, Chairman of the Board, International Industries, Inc.  “This new state of the art facility will position Benson to meet and exceed those expectations.  On behalf of our ‘Employee Owners’, I want to express our appreciation to Governor Fletcher, his staff and the great folks of Trigg County for their untiring efforts to make our plan a reality.  We look forward to being a greater part of the Kentucky business community.”

Cadiz welcomes Benson International, Inc. with open arms,” stated Cadiz Mayor Lyn Bailey.   “Being one of the largest custom trailer companies in the business, we feel they will complement our existing industries.”  Trigg County Judge Executive, Berlin Moore added, “We are pleased that Benson International has chosen Trigg County for its new production facility.  We know that our labor force and community support will make for a very profitable relationship for Benson and the citizens of Trigg County.”

David Shore, Chairman of the Cadiz-Trigg County Economic Development Commission stated, “We feel very fortunate that Benson International is locating in Cadiz and Trigg County.  This development will have a positive impact on our community and the surrounding counties. This was a team effort.  There are many people to thank for this announcement, which we intend to do in the near future.  What a great company for Kentucky and Trigg County.”

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) preliminarily approved Benson International for tax credits under the Kentucky Industrial Development Act (KIDA), an incentive program aimed at increasing manufacturing employment in the Commonwealth.  A community profile for Trigg County may be found at the following link:
