NORTH AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL LIVESTOCK EXPO IN LOUISVILLE
LOUISVILLE, KY … The largest all-breed, purebred livestock show in the world, the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), is underway at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center, through November 18.
Attracting exhibitors and attendees from nearly every state in the nation and 17 foreign countries, NAILE receives over 22,000 entries and features more than 140 total shows, sales, breed meetings, entertainment events and judging contests. More than 200,000 visitors attend the show during its two-week run, bringing an estimated economic impact of over $11.6 million to the state each year.
With a total of $650,000 in premiums and awards on the line, NAILE’s competitors can choose from nine major divisions of livestock entries: dairy cattle, dairy goats, llamas and alpacas, quarter horses, draft horses, market swine, beef cattle, Boer goats and sheep. Particular interest is also given to the industry’s future as seven major youth judging contests are incorporated into the show to help prepare the next generation of livestock breeders in an interactive and educational manner.
Many special events are also planned to keep the action rolling through NAILE’s two week stay. The annual Farm/City Luncheonk, November 11, features the announcement of the “Agribusiness of the Year” and the fun-filled “Wing Tip Rodeo,” a roping competition featuring local celebrities and business leaders.
Evening excitement with traditional cowboy fun is provided by the North American Championship Rodeo, November 10 - 12. Throughout the show, cowboys, cowgirls and city folk alike will enjoy the Giant Country Store with nearly 150 commercial vendors selling everything from fine jewelry and food to western clothing and farm supplies. Additionally, high-flying canine skill will be on display as the US Disc Dog Nationals Championship Weekend soars into the NAILE lineup November 12 - 13.
Admission to NAILE is $5 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under, or a pass for the entire show can be purchased at the admission gate for $20. Parking is $5, or a parking pass can also be purchased at the admission gate for $25. For additional information about NAILE, visit the official web site at www.livestockexpo.org.
