91 Percent of Entities Filed Annual Reports with Office of Secretary of State
Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, Kentucky’s Chief Business Official, reports 91 percent of the nearly 198,000 entities that were required to file annual reports with her office this year fulfilled the requirement.
"I am pleased that more than 67 percent of the filings were completed online, which saved valuable time and money for both the businesses and the state," said Grimes.
Pursuant to Kentucky law, 17,835 entities that were required to but did not file an annual report by September 27, 2013, were administratively dissolved or had their certificates of authority revoked.
Annual reports contain information such as principal place of business, officers, and service of process address. The reports do not contain any financial information. "Annual report filings help ensure the public has accurate information about businesses operating in the state," said Grimes.
Conducting business in Kentucky after administrative dissolution or revocation of the certificate of authority could result in civil penalties. Officers of entities that were administratively dissolved or had their certificates of authority revoked should visit www.sos.ky.gov for information about being reinstated or qualifying to do business in the Commonwealth.
