| Secretary of State Trey Grayson recently announced the appointment of Springfield native Sarah Ball Johnson to serve as the executive director of Kentucky’s State Board of Elections. Johnson had previously served as assistant director of the Board of Elections since 1997.
“I am extremely honored to be chosen by Secretary Grayson to serve in this capacity,” stated Johnson. “I look forward to working with Secretary Grayson, the Board of Elections, and County Clerks to ensure that Kentucky’s elections process is of the highest quality. ”
Sarah Ball Johnson graduated from Transylvania University where she attained a Bachelor’s of Arts in Business Administration and Management with a minor in Communications. She also received a Masters of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Kentucky’s Martin School of Public Policy and Administration.
Prior to serving as the assistant director of the State Board of Elections, she served as a training and development specialist for the Board. She also worked three years as a field assistant in Senator Mitch McConnell’s bluegrass office.
“Sarah’s experience with the State Board of Elections is invaluable for someone in the director’s position. Her knowledge of election laws and the Board’s day-to-day operations made her an obvious choice for this position,” stated Secretary Grayson. “I am grateful for her service and am excited about her taking on this responsibility.” |
