(Frankfort, KY) - The State Board of Elections met today and, among their actions, certified the vote totals from the May 16, 2006 primary election.  With the certification, a partial stage is set for the 2006 general election, which will feature more races on the ballot than at any other time in Kentucky’s history.

There are two remaining deadlines for candidates who wish to have their votes counted in the upcoming election.  The first, August 8, 2006, is for independent candidates, candidates of political organizations or groups, and candidates for some local offices who wish to have their name appear on the ballot.  Some of those candidates were required to file a statement of candidacy with the appropriate election official by April 3, 2006.

The other deadline, October 27, 2006, is for candidates who wish to declare their intent as a write-in candidate.  Those candidates names will not appear on the ballot but will have their votes counted.

Official results will be available online next week at www.kyelect.com.
