Kentuckians will go to the polls in 2006 with a record number of offices for which to vote and the anticipation for this record-breaking election is building.  With citizens already announcing their possible candidacy and with the first day for candidate filings drawing near, the Kentucky State Board of Elections has expanded access to a variety of voter information through website’s Voter Information Center.  Most notably, the site now allows voters to check their party registration.

“The State Board of Elections is excited to offer this service to the voters of Kentucky,” Secretary Grayson stated.  “It will be particularly helpful as many candidates across the state begin to file for office.”

The site also provides access to individual voters’ precinct information including polling location and contact information for every County Clerk’s office in the Commonwealth.  Another new feature allows voters to access a map and driving directions from their registration address to their polling location utilizing MapQuest technology.

In addition, the site identifies legislative information for voters such as their state house and senate districts, along with their United States congressional districts.

Director Johnson stated that “for the first time, voters can find their party registration from any place that they can access the web.  It is particularly important that voters take the time to check their registration so that they may vote in the appropriate primary election next May.”

Voters wishing to change political party affiliation and be eligible to vote in that political party affiliation’s primary election will need to have changed their registration by December 31, 2005.

The State Board of Elections and the County Clerk's office were supplied with the information provided on this site by each individual voter when they registered to vote. If the information appears to be incorrect or there is an error, voters should contact their County Clerk.

The Voter Information Center can be accessed through the State Board of Elections website at www.elect.ky.gov or through the Office of the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ky.gov.
