Outages Continue to Decline in Eastern Kentucky

Here are the latest outage numbers from the weekend snowstorm, as reported by jurisdictional utilities to the Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC).
        Total customers without power as of 11 a.m. today: 46,495
        Companies reporting more than 500 customers without power:
        Kentucky Power Co. (American Electric Power Co.): 41,918
        Kentucky Utilities Co.: 2,650
        Jackson Energy Cooperative: 880
        Big Sandy Rural Electric Cooperative Corp.: 625
        Counties with more than 1,000 customers without power:
        Pike: 15,703
        Letcher: 5,039
        Floyd: 5,831
        Perry: 4,604
        Knott : 3,689
        Leslie: 2,885
        Breathitt 2.169
        Lawrence: 1,526
        Harlan: 1,295
        Bell: 1,155
        The PSC is an independent agency attached for administrative purposes to the Energy and Environment Cabinet. It regulates more than 1,500 gas, water, sewer, electric and telecommunication utilities operating in Kentucky and has approximately 100 employees.
