PSC to Give Annual Preview of Natural Gas Prices on Monday, Oct. 31

        The Kentucky Public Service Commission’s (PSC) annual briefing on natural gas prices during the upcoming winter will be on Monday, Oct. 31.
        This year’s preview is a video presentation that will be available on the PSC website, http://psc.ky.gov, as well as on the PSC’s YouTube channel, KY Public Service Commission. The 18-minute video can be viewed or downloaded (in Windows media format) beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday.
        “Presenting the annual natural gas price briefing in this format is in keeping with the PSC’s efforts to make utility-related information more accessible and understandable for utility customers,” PSC Chairman David Armstrong said. “We plan to produce more videos in the coming months on a variety of topics of interest to consumers.”
        Topics to be covered in the video presentation include:
* The structure of the natural gas industry;
* How natural gas rates are determined ;
* Recent trends in natural gas prices;
* The price outlook for the 2011-2012 heating season; and
* What consumers can do to reduce home heating costs.
        Questions about material covered in the briefing can be submitted by e-mail.

        The PSC is an independent agency attached for administrative purposes to the Energy and Environment Cabinet. It regulates more than 1,500 gas, water, sewer, electric and telecommunication utilities operating in Kentucky and has approximately 100 employees.
