The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) has received a proposed settlement agreed to by all parties to cases 2008-00251 and 2008-00252, the applications by Kentucky Utilities Co. and Louisville Gas and Electric Co., respectively, for adjustments to their base rates.
As in all such cases, no rate adjustments may be made without PSC approval.
Under KRS 278.030, the PSC is required to determine whether the rates in the proposed settlement are fair, just and reasonable.
The PSC will announce its determination in the form of an order at a future date.
The PSC is an independent agency attached for administrative purposes to the Energy and Environment Cabinet. It regulates more than 1,500 gas, water, sewer, electric and telecommunication utilities operating in Kentucky and has approximately 100 employees.
