Two for One Admission Offered at Wickliffe Mounds Storytelling Day

WICKLIFFE, Ky. -- Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site will present storytelling sessions with local author Geraldine Marshall Gutfreund in conjunction with the Wickliffe Harvest Festival on Saturday Sept. 6, 2008.

Storytelling Myths and Tales at Wickliffe Mounds will feature one-hour story sessions beginning at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

While listening to the tales and myths of popular Native American stories, visitors can enjoy a slice of watermelon and afterwards tour the Wickliffe Mounds museum.  Meanwhile, at the Wickliffe Harvest Festival in town, Fain Russell, noted ceramic expert, will demonstrate prehistoric pottery for Wickliffe Mounds. 

General admission fees for Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site are $5 for adults and $4 for children 6 to 12 years old. During the Harvest Festival, a special 2 for 1 admission discount will apply. For more information, call 270-335-3681.

Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site features a museum, gift shop, trail, and picnic area. The park is located at 94 Green Street, Highway 51/60 in Wickliffe, Ballard County, Ky., along the Great River Road.  It is an important Native American archaeological site and a unique part of Kentucky’s history.
