Tygart Trek Planned for Jan. 20 at Greenbo Lake

GREENUP, Ky. – Greenbo Lake State Resort Park is hosting its annual Michael Tygart Trek, a 9-mile hike held Jan. 20 in honor of an early Kentucky explorer.

 

This moderately easy trek leads by a mid-19th century furnace, historic cemetery and descends into Pruitt Fork Valley, site of several pioneer homes and ends along the scenic lakeshore.

 

This hike is limited to 15 people. Hikers should bring their own water, lunch and pack. The fee is $15 and includes a souvenir.

 

The hike will start at 9 a.m. at the Greenbo lodge and will end around 2 p.m. The registration deadline is Jan. 12. Contact Claire Earnhart at 606-473-7324 or 1-800-325-0083.

 

Greenbo Lake State Resort Park has a lodge, restaurant and campground. Greenbo Lake State Resort Park is located just seven miles off of Highway 23, known as “The Country Music Highway.”
