Press Release Date:  June 28, 2004
Contact:  Jim Carroll, (502) 564-8110, ext. 307, Jim.Carroll@ky.gov

The Department of Parks has launched a new golf package that ties together its six best golf courses with outstanding lodging and dining in a convenient package called “Tee’s and Zee’s.”

The idea is to make an all-inclusive golf outing at a Kentucky state park as simple as making a phone call or filling out an on-line form.

"Golfers want an easy to understand package that provides an outstanding value," said Parks Commissioner George Ward. "Researching the golf traveler has taught us that golfers like to know exactly what they are getting at one predictable price.”

Through “Tee’s and Zee’s,” a golfer chooses from among six of the park system’s newest and best-known golf courses, now marketed as the Signature Series. The Signature Series courses are spread throughout each region of the state and most are located on or near a host park. The courses are the Mineral Mound State Park and Kentucky Dam Village State Resort courses in western Kentucky, Dale Hollow Lake State Resort in south-central Kentucky, Wasioto Winds at Pine Mountain State Resort in southeastern Kentucky, and Eagle Ridge at Yatesville Lake State Park and Hidden Cove at Grayson Lake State Park in northeastern Kentucky.

For a package price of $109 per night per person (based on double occupancy), a golfer gets one 18-hole round of golf with cart, overnight accommodations, breakfast and dinner, and a welcoming gift. The package includes a reserved tee time, Commissioner Ward noted.

Packages are available for up to seven nights, with eight rounds of golf.

A golfer can book a package by calling 1-800-255-PARK or by filling out an on-line form at the department’s website at this web address: http://www.kystateparks.ky.gov/TZpackage.htm

The "Tee's and Zee's" package will be promoted on cable TV commercials, print ads, radio commercials, the parks web site, and at golf consumer travel shows in northern states, Commissioner Ward said.

“I’m confident that this package will be a great stimulus to our golf business,” Commissioner Ward said. “We’re offering an excellent product at a competitive price.”
