Kentucky State Parks Offer Spring Fling Special Rates For Lodge Rooms
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Parks are offering a special lodging coupon just in time for spring break.
The Spring Fling Value Rate coupon is good for a $50 a night lodge room at selected state resort parks Sunday through Thursday. The offer is good March 1 through May 21, 2009 at these resort parks:
Blue Licks Battlefield – Located 48 miles northeast of Lexington near Mount Olivet. This park includes Pioneer Museum, which tells about Native Americans, pioneers and the Revolutionary War battle fought on the grounds of the park. The park also has an award-winning gift shop featuring Kentucky Crafted and Kentucky Proud products. 1-800-433-7008.
Buckhorn Lake – Buckhorn Lake offers a mountain setting with fishing, hiking trails, playgrounds and mini-golf (opens April 1). The park is 25 miles northwest of Hazard. 1-800-325-0058.
Carter Caves – Located off Interstate 64 near Olive Hill, Carter Caves offers cave tours,
hiking trails, horseback riding (starting in mid-April) and a 9-hole golf course. 1-800-325-0059.
Greenbo Lake – Greenbo Lake has excellent fishing, miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horses, tennis courts, and a marina that opens April 1. Greenbo is located 18 miles north of Grayson. 1-800-325-0083.
Jenny Wiley – Jenny Wiley, just outside of Prestonsburg, offers mountain beauty along with hiking trails, disc golf, fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities. 1-800-325-0142.
Kenlake – Kenlake has an indoor tennis center open through April 1 as well as outdoor courts. There’s also a nine-hole golf course, fishing on Kentucky Lake, a marina and other recreational opportunities. Kenlake is 40 miles southeast of Paducah. 1-800-325-0143.
Pennyrile Forest – This park, 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville, features seven hiking trails, a lake with fishing, an 18-hole golf course, and other recreational activities. 1-800-325-1711.
Rough River Dam – Fishing, a marina that opens in May, 9-hole golf course, mini-golf (opens April 1) are all available at Rough River. This park is located off the Western Kentucky Parkway near Leitchfield. 1-800-325-1713.
All resort parks have a restaurant, trails and other recreational activities. Most offer camping starting in April.
