FRANKFORT, Ky. – It’s time for spring cleaning, and several Kentucky State Parks are seeking volunteers to lend a hand.

 

During March and April, these parks are holding special cleanup days and invite volunteers to join them picking up litter along trails, roads and lakes.

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, Prestonsburg

March 17

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park will host Operation Clean Sweep on March 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come to the park for a fun-filled day while working to keep the park clean. Volunteers are invited to a cookout. Call 1-800-325-0142.

 

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin

March 24

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park will host the 2012 PRIDE Spring Cleanup Kickoff on Saturday, March 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Groups, individuals and businesses interested in helping pick up trash at the park or along Highway 90 are invited to participate. Safe areas for the cleanup will be provided. Registration begins at 9 a.m.  Participants will receive a free lunch and T-shirt and will be eligible for door prizes. Big Bone Lick State Park, Union

March 24

Big Bone Lick State Park will hold its spring clean up on March 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet at the visitor center. The park will provide grilled hot dogs, chips and soft drinks for lunch.  Call 859-384-3522.

 

Green River Lake State Park, Campbellsville

March 31

The focus of this trail cleanup will be trimming limbs, moving downed trees, cleaning up trash, and repairing erosion problems. Cleanup event starts at 9 a.m. at the park office. Food is available for volunteers. Call 270-465-8255.

 

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, Burkesville

April 14

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park will hold its Pride Cleanup Day on April 14. Meeting location will be at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park’s picnic shelter. Registration is 9-10 a.m. Cleanup is from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Complimentary lunch at 12:30 p.m., along with t-shirts and door prizes. Call 1-800-325-2282.

Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, Buckhorn

April 21

Visit Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park for its annual cleanup day April 21, which starts at 8:30 a.m. with registration at the marina. Gloves and bags will be provided, along with lunch for volunteers. This event is co-sponsored by the Buckhorn Scenic Trail Association, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Perry County Fiscal Court and PRIDE. Call 1-800-325-0058.
