Volunteers Sought for Rough River Cleanup Sept. 27

FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. -- Rough River Dam State Resort Park will stage a lakeshore cleanup on Saturday Sept. 27, 2008 for which volunteers are needed.

Volunteers are invited to join park staff as they observe National Public Lands Day by cleaning up the park’s lakeshore. After the cleanup, there will be lunch, a live band and door prizes for participants.

The “trash bash” cleanup will begin around 8:00 am (CDT), and the festivities will wrap up around 2:30 pm.

Beautiful lake views enhance the appeal of Rough River Dam Lodge, where each of the 40 guest rooms features a private patio or balcony overlooking the lake. Facilities at Rough River also include cottages, a campground and the Grayson’s Landing Restaurant. An airstrip and adjacent air camp provide accommodations for aviators who visit the park. Other activities include hiking, fishing, boating, swimming and golf.

The resort is located on KY 79. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit on KY 79 north from Caneyville or exit on KY 259 N at Leitchfield and travel to the park via KY 54 from Leitchfield. Driving south, take KY 79 south from Hardinsburg and US 60.
