Barren River Hosting Recreation Workshop March 28-29

LUCAS, Ky. -- Barren River Lake State Resort Park and Kentucky Recreation Park Society are sponsoring an Innovative Programming Workshop at Barren River Lake State Resort March 28-29. 

 

The workshop will provide new programming ideas for anyone who does recreational programming at their facility. 

 

Sessions on Icebreaker and Teambuilding Activities, Environmental Education Activities, Cherokee Crafts and Games, Pickleball, Playground Safety and Geocaching and Letterboxing will be offered.  There will also be a roundtable discussion that allows participants to share their programming ideas.

 

The workshop begins at 12:30 p.m. CST on March 28 and will conclude at 2 p.m. on March 29.  Registration fee (if paid by March 16) is $40 (society members) and $50 (non-members).  After the March 16 the registration fee is $50 (members) and $60 (non-members).  Fee includes all sessions, dinner and lunch, and social activities. Continuing education units will be available to certified parks recreation professionals.  Live entertainment will be provided on March 28 by magician Dave Cottrell.

 

The lodge also has a block of rooms reserved for registered attendees for $44.95 plus tax per night.  Ask for the "Recreation" block when making your reservation.

 

Besides the lodge, Barren River Lake State Resort Park also has cottages, a campground and a restaurant.  Barren River offers boating, golf, fishing and other recreational opportunities.
