On May 2, Kentuckians who have had a near-death experience will share their personal stories with a reading from the book “Appalachian Angels” at Greenbo Lake.
“Appalachian Angels” was edited by a Carter County native, Sylvia DeLee Davis, and contains 39 stories. Several northeastern Kentucky residents are included in this spiritual anthology.
The book opens with an account by Christi Porter of Ashland, who describes her harrowing plunge into an icy river. Porter was an employee of Greenbo Lake State Resort Park at the time of her accident. WKYT-TV of Lexington was so impressed with Christi’s story of survival that a reporter traveled to Greenbo to interview her.
The reading is at 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Jesse Stuart Lodge and is free to the public. For more information, contact Stephanie Poplin at 606-473-7324 or 800-325-0083.
