Each race has a pre-registration fee of $15 and a race day fee of $20. But if runners pay $50 by April 3, they can sign up for all four races -- the “Race Series.” Those who wish to register for individual races only should do so through each park.
To register for the “Race Series,” runners should obtain a form and send it along with payment to: Kentucky State Parks Race Series, 500 Mero Street, 11th floor, Capital Plaza Tower, Frankfort, KY 40601.
A new feature has been added for the 2009 Race Series, a 5K “Get Fit” Fun Walk! If you don’t feel like running, then join us for a walk while enjoying your Kentucky State Parks along the same 5K course. All ages, baby strollers and pets are welcome. Participants in the fun walk pay the same registration fee, will receive a certificate and be eligible for door prizes, refreshments and t-shirts.
For the individual 5K runs only, awards will be given to the overall male and female winner of each race and first and second place winners in each male and female age divisions. The grand prize winners of the “Race Series” will be named at the July 11 Magnolia 5K at Rough River.
Overall “Race Series” awards will go to the first place and runner-up male and female finishers. All of those who run in the “Race Series” will receive a certificate and be registered for a special giveaway prize to be named at a later date. Prizes may include free overnight lodging certificates and dinners at many Kentucky State Park lodges, free rounds of golf and State Park gift cards. T-shirts, door prizes, refreshments and other give-a-ways will be given to participants in the 5K Run and Fun Walk. T-shirts are guaranteed for pre-registered runners/walkers only. Day of race participants will receive a t-shirt as supplies last.
