Magnolia 5K Run and “Get Fit” Fun Walk Set For July 11
FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. -- Lace up those running shoes and come on out to Rough River Dam State Resort Park! The fourth and final race in the Kentucky State Parks 5K Race Series is the Magnolia 5K Run scheduled for Saturday, July 11th.
The race begins at 8 a.m. CT and the starting line will be located near the airport building. Awards will be given following the finish of the race. You do not have to be in the series to participate.
A new feature for 2009 is a 5K “Get Fit” Fun Walk. If you don’t feel like running, come out and walk with us. Runners and walkers will both be eligible for door prizes.
The cost is $15 if you register before July 11th and $20 if you register on race day. Race T-shirts are guaranteed only to pre-registered participants and then will be given out until the supply is gone. Registration forms are available online at www.parks.ky.gov/raceseries/. Beautiful lake views enhance the appeal of Rough River Dam Lodge. Each of the 40 rooms features private patios or balconies and overlook the lake. The park also has cottages, a restaurant, campground, marina, swimming, mini-golf and other recreational activities.
The resort is located on KY 79. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit on KY 79 north from Caneyville or exit on KY 259 N at Leitchfield and travel to the park via KY 54 from Leitchfield. Driving south, take KY 79 south from Hardinsburg and US 60.
