Buckhorn Festival Features Appalachian Heritage

FRANKFORT, Ky.The unique cultural heritage of Appalachia will be spotlighted during Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park’s Annual Mountain Showcase, scheduled for April 22-23.

 

     A focal point is a craft show scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Also featured throughout the day both days is a quilt show displaying some of the colorful fabric works of art that characterize the Appalachian region.

 

    Also on Saturday, potter Al Baumann will guide visitors in making their own pots of clay. Several Appalachian authors will conduct book signings from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

   At 2 p.m., Kevin’s Rock and Rhythm Cloggers will perform. Then, at 8 p.m., nationally recognized caller Charlie Whitaker will lead a square dance.

 

    Both the quilt and craft shows continue on Sunday. At 2:30 p.m., the Appalachian Troubadours will perform.
