Barren River Holds 5k Race

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Parks 5K Race Series continues on May 20 with a race at Barren River State Resort Park near Glasgow.

     The Barren River 5K Classic will start at 8:30 a.m. CDT. The cost is $15 in advance, $18 on the day of the race. Registration forms are available online at http://www.parks.ky.gov or by contacting Lisa Deavers at the park at 1-270-646-2151.

    The series started at Dale Hollow Lake on April 1. Races also are scheduled at Taylorsville Lake State park on June 17, Rough River Dam SRP on July 15, and General Butler SRP on Aug. 5.

The Kentucky State Park System is composed of 52 state parks plus an interstate park shared with Virginia. The Department of Parks, an agency of the Commerce Cabinet, operates 17 resort parks with lodges -- more than any other state.
