College Bike Races To Be At Lake Barkley State Resort Park Sept. 30-Oct. 1

CADIZ, Ky.Lake Barkley State Resort Park will be hosting the Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference and Regional Championships Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

 

The host school is Murray State University. This is the final weekend of regular season racing, which began Aug. 23. The races will be held on the 10 miles of mountain biking trails, which cover varied and technical terrain, a dual-slalom course, and a downhill course.

 

Kentucky schools expected to send teams include Murray State, Union College and Lindsey Wilson. Other schools expected to compete include Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Purdue, Cincinnati, Western Michigan, Michigan Tech and Butler.

 

The cross-country race and downhill trial runs will be Saturday, while the short-track cross country, dual-slalom heats, and timed downhill races will be Sunday. The races are free and open to the public.

 

The top three teams and individuals will advance to Division I and II collegiate nationals in Angelfire, New Mexico on Oct. 19-20.
