Adventure Racing Championship Oct. 6-8 at Cumberland Falls
CORBIN, Ky. – Cumberland Falls State Resort Park will host the 2011 Adventure Race National Championship for the United States Adventure Racing Association on Oct. 6-8.
Additionally, there will be several special programs at the park for spectators during the three-day event.
They include a Festival by the Falls, with live music, food vendors, craft booths, raft rides and games for children from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 6; interpretive programs, a hike, square dance and star party on Friday Oct. 7; and a finish line party 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8. All events are open to the public.
The race involves coed teams of three, trekking, mountain biking and paddling canoes nonstop for 24 hours, using only a topographic map and compass to navigate. Teams must qualify at a regional qualifying race in order to compete. The race will start Friday morning and finish Saturday morning.
