National Archaeology Day is a celebration of archaeology and the thrill of discovery. Whether it is a family-friendly archaeology fair, a guided tour of a local archaeological site, a simulated dig, a lecture from an archaeologist, the interactive, hands-on National Archaeology Day programs provide the chance to indulge your inner Indiana Jones.  Find out more at http://www.archaeological.org/NAD/about

October  2012, marks the 80th anniversary of Wickliffe Mounds as an archaeological park and tourist attraction. First excavated by Fain King in 1932, the mounds were developed in to a public museum. The site still features the excavation areas, artifacts and exhibits about the Native Americans who once occupied the site nearly 900 years ago, although the human remains have been reburied in their original burial mound with new interpretive information for visitors.

Wickliffe Mounds is an archaeological site of a Native American village of the Mississippian culture. The park features a museum, mounds, walking trail, picnic area, visitor center with tourism information and a gift shop.
