Rough River Dam State Resort Park Book Fair Set For July 8

FRANKFORT, Ky.Rough River Dam State Resort Park will hold its Book Fair and Quilt Sale on Saturday, July 8.

 

Among the authors scheduled to sign books are Margaret Hardesty Day, author of “Paths, Pebbles and People,” and Lester V. Horwitz, author of “The Longest Raid of the Civil War.” Day’s book is full of yarns and anecdotes from the author’s life and the people she has encountered during her travels and mission work on five continents. Horwitz’s book chronicles General John Hunt Morgan’s famous raid in 1863.

 

At 1:30 p.m. (Central Time), there will be a presentation on Morgan’s Great Raid into the North in July 1863. A map on the raid route through Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio will be given out. Admission is free.

 

Bob Farmer, a humorist and storyteller, will sign CDs and DVDs and distribute free copies of the “Farmer’s Almanac.” There will also be a selection of books, CDs, DVDs and Victorian Heart quits offered at a discount. There will also be drawings for door prizes and free gifts.

 

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the park’s lodge. It is sponsored by the park’s gift shop which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The restaurant will be open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and for dinner from 5-8 p.m.
