FALLS OF ROUGH, Ky. – Rough River Dam State Resort Park will host a guided birding walk and program on Oct. 8.

The walk will be from 9-10 a.m. (Central time) and the program will be 10-10:30 a.m. in the Terrace Room at the park lodge.

Join DVD author Joe LaFleur for a free guided bird walk and program. The walk will feature hands-on identification of birds in a variety of habitats, and beginners are welcome (meet at lodge lobby).  A free audiovisual program about common migrant birds will follow the walk in the Terrace Room. The program will help participants identify birds by sight and sound and will also review habitats and the best ways for participants to attract each species to their yards.

LaFleur holds degrees in wildlife biology and communications and is the author of “Better Birdwatching,” a series of DVDs about birds of North America. He has been collecting video and sounds of birds for 20 years and lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia.
