Pennyrile Forest 3rd Annual Geocaching Weekend Sept. 28-30
DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. – Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park will be hosting its 3rd Annual Geocaching Weekend Sept. 28-30.
Geocaching is an adventure game that uses technology and global positioning system units (GPS units) to locate the cache or treasure. These units use satellites to determine your position on Earth and can be used to pinpoint locations.
Games will include a night cache, find the most micro caches contest, first-to-find cache, and traditional caches. We guarantee at least 30 caches to find.
The fee is $10 per geocacher, $5 if you register by Sept. 24. Event participants are eligible for a 10 percent discount on lodging. On site registration will begin at Sept. 28. Participants will receive their book of coordiantes for all the geocaches once they have completed on-site registration.
The weekend will begin with a welcome on Friday evening at , after which participants will take turns searching for the night cache. There will also be a DVD for beginning geocachers to view on Friday evening. Saturday geocachers will search for the caches on their own.
