Pennyrile Forest Hosting Veterans Day Weekend Event Nov. 11-12
DAWSON SPRINGS, Ky. – Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is inviting everyone to come out and help salute our Veterans! This Veterans Day Weekend, Nov. 11-12, visit the park to hear veterans tell their stories of service to our country.
This program is free for all to attend. Veterans are invited to come and tell their stories and bring their memorabilia. Mike Freeland, a World War II veteran, will be on hand to begin the story telling on Friday. He will also teach a workshop on writing your story and do a book signing on Saturday.
Registration is from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11. There will be a session on the “Experience of War Stories” at 7 p.m. That session will continue Saturday at 10 a.m. Then at 1 p.m., Freeland will conduct a session on “How to Write Your Story.” He will hold a book signing at 3 p.m.

Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is 20 miles northwest of Hopkinsville, on KY 109 N. From the Western Kentucky Parkway, exit at Dawson Springs and take KY 109 south. Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is nestled within Pennyrile State Forest. Park facilities include a lodge, cottages, restaurant, campground, 18-hole golf course, 56-acre lake, rental boats, playgrounds, tennis-basketball court, miniature golf course, hiking trails and meeting rooms.
