FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State Parks system invites visitors to drop by its display in the South Wing during the Kentucky State Fair, Aug. 16-26.

Guests will be able to learn about various recreation programs at state parks during the fair. There will be special sessions offered each day by park naturalists and historians, as well as 10-minute golf lessons from the parks’ PGA professionals.

“The Kentucky State Fair is a great opportunity for people to learn about our parks and ask questions about the places they would like to visit,” said Parks Commissioner Elaine Walker. “Our staff enjoys this opportunity to talk about our lodges, cottages, campgrounds, golf courses and recreational programs.”

The parks will also be handing out coupons for $62–a-night lodge rooms, as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of six park lodges – General Butler, Rough River, Lake Cumberland, Carter Caves, Kentucky Dam Village and Jenny Wiley.

Guests can also enter their names for drawings for free overnight stays at parks. The Kentucky State Parks Foundation will also have a table at the booth.

Golf demonstrations and free lessons will be provided by PGA professionals from several Kentucky State Park golf courses.

The Kentucky State Parks display area is in the South Wing near the Pride of the Counties area. For more information about Kentucky State Parks, visit www.parks.ky.gov
