Kentucky State Park Employees Recognized For Work
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Several Kentucky State Park employees have been honored in recent weeks for their contributions to the park system.
The Kentucky Hotel and Lodging Association recently presented its “Stars of the Industry Awards” and two state park staff members were honored. The awards were announced during the Kentucky Tourism Council’s annual conference in Covington, Ky.
Brenda Danner, the housekeeping supervisor at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park in Greenup received the award for the housekeeping section. She has worked at the park for four years.
Phil McCord, who was the maintenance supervisor at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park at Mount Olivet, was also honored. He had worked at the park since 1999 and recently transferred to another state agency.
Another Greenbo Lake staff member, Business Manager Tom Clay, was recently given a Governor’s Ambassador Award, which recognizes the contributions of public employees. Clay promotes fishing, wildlife, state parks and tourism through radio and television programs.
“The Kentucky State Parks are proud of all of their employees at all of our state parks,” Parks Commissioner Gerry van der Meer said. “Everyday, our staff provides award-winning service to our customers across the entire park system.”
The Kentucky Department of Parks also received two Traverse Awards for Excellence in Marketing as part of the Kentucky Tourism Council’s conference. The parks received a first place award for its meeting planners guide and a second place award for its Golf Trail Campaign.
