Enjoy July 4th Holiday at a Kentucky State Park
FRANKFORT, Ky. – It’s time to break out the red, white and blue at Kentucky State Parks! Enjoy Fourth of July activities at a Kentucky State Park this year. They include fireworks displays, entertainment and more.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park, Lucas
July 4 Fireworks
It’s a blast at Barren River Lake State Resort Park’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration sponsored by The Friends of Barren River Lake & Park. Plenty of patriotic fun starts at 10 a.m. with activities such as crafts, tie-dyed T-shirts ($10), and the annual Float Your Boat contest. There will be a live band, and the fireworks display will take place after dark, at approximately 9 p.m. For a $10 donation to the Friends of Barren River Lake & Park, you can park down at the beach area for a closer view of the fireworks. (The $10 fee is per vehicle and is for one parking space only). Remember to arrive early for parking due to the high volume of traffic and limited parking availability. Anyone arriving after 8:30 p.m. will be parked in the Glasgow Highland Field area, which is a 1½-mile walk to the lodge. No sparklers or other fireworks are allowed. Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, Buckhorn
July 4 Fireworks
Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park will sponsor fireworks, entertainment and food July 4. The park will offer games from 2-8 p.m. A special buffet from 5-9 p.m. will include barbecue, fried catfish and roast beef. Adult cost is $13.99 plus tax. The marina will be selling ice cream and vendor booths will be set up along the Marina Road. Michael Dwayne will serve as deejay from 6-10 p.m. near the beach house. A fireworks show sponsored by Hazard- Perry County Tourism and the city of Buckhorn will be held over the lake. All events are free. Call 1-800-325-0058 for information.
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin
Trekking Series Hike July 6
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park will hold a Trekking Series Hike on Saturday, July 6, at 10 a.m. starting at the DuPont Lodge. The hike will be on the Blue Bend Trail through the nature preserve. Guests should bring a lunch, water, camera and appropriate dress for the weather. This hike is considered easy to moderate. Call 1-800-325-0063.
Greenbo Lake State Resort Park, Greenup
Music on July 6
Greenbo Lake State Resort Park will host “Music in the Shelter House” by Bonnie, Shannon, and Friends. They will play traditional country with a folk/blues twist. This will be taking place Saturday, July 6, from 3-5 p.m. There will also be special activities on July 4 for campers, such as fingerpainting, snow cones and jewelry making. Call 1-800-325-0083.
John James Audubon State Park, Henderson
July 4 Celebration
Come fish with us on Thursday before you head into Henderson for the Fourth of July fireworks celebration. Children under the age of 16 who come with an adult are welcome to visit the boat dock for 1½ hours of fishing before the skies light up. Poles and bait will be provided, free. Join in the creative tie-dyed fun at 3 p.m. on Friday, July 5, at the campground shelter. Buy a T-shirt for $5 or bring your own for free! Potter Albert Bauman is back at Audubon Park for your holiday fun. He’ll be at the campground shelter at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 6. The park’s annual Fourth of July parade in the campground starts at 3 p.m., but be at the shelter early to decorate your bikes, scooters, wagons and whatever else you want to take in the parade. Everything will be red, white and blue, and we will march to Sousa parade music all around the campground! Kenlake State Resort Park, Aurora
July 3 Fireworks
Kick off your Independence Day weekend at Kenlake State Resort Park on Wednesday, July 3. All festivities will take place at the old beach area located at 466 Tennis Center Road. Music by the Tony Logue Band starting at 6 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. Concessions will be available. Fireworks are sponsored by Kenlake Marina and Aurora Area Merchants. Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, Gilbertsville
Picnic, Fireworks and More on July 4
Kentucky Dam Village will celebrate with an old fashioned picnic buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Buffet includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and catfish, plus side dishes for $7.99 for adults or $4.99 for children 6-12. (Ages 5 and under are free with purchase of adult buffet). Other events July 5-6 include an ice cream social, corn hole tournament and karaoke at the campground. A free concert by the band “Cantageous” starts at 7 p.m. July 4 with fireworks sponsored by Kentucky Dam Marina at dusk. Call 1-800-325-0146 for information.

July 4 Fireworks
The Friends of Lake Barkley State Resort Park, along with other community supporters, will sponsor a fireworks display at the beach July 4, starting at dusk. No personal fireworks, dogs or glass allowed. Call 1-800-325-1708.
Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, Jamestown
Magic Show and Fireworks July 6
Lake Cumberland will host a magic show at 8 p.m. with David Cottrell. It’s magic for the whole family, along with audience participation, comedy and a blazing five-string banjo. Don’t miss out on this special act being presented at the campground amphitheater. Parking is available at the public pool. Seats are available, or you can bring your own chair or blanket. The Stephen Foster Story Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrate Stephen Foster's 187th birthday on July 4 at My Old Kentucky Home State Park and “The Stephen Foster Story.” Old-fashioned games on the lawn begin at 7 p.m., and “The Stephen Foster Story” starts at 8:30 p.m. Birthday cupcakes will be served at intermission. Arts and Crafts, Independence Day Campsite Decorating Contest on July 4

July 6 Rumble Over Rough River
Come to Rough River Dam State Resort Park on Saturday, July 6, for a fantastic fireworks show. Rumble Over Rough River is sponsored by Rough River Business and Tourism in cooperation with the Friends of Rough River. Fireworks July 6
Taylorsville Lake State Park will have a fireworks event July 6 at 9:30 p.m. This event is hosted by Friends of Taylorsville Lake State Park and sponsored by Taylorsville-Spencer County Tourism, Edgewater Resort and Taylorsville Lake Marina. Viewing is available from Taylorsville Lake Possum Ridge Ramp parking lot, Taylorsville Lake Marina, and boats in the water. This event is free and open to the public. Call 502-477-8713.
