Siege of Boonesborough Reeanctment Set for Sept. 24-25

RICHMOND, Ky. – Fort Boonesborough State Park will host its annual “1778 Siege of Boonesborough” weekend Sept. 24-25, 2011.

Events will include a battle reenactment on both days and a special night battle Saturday at dusk.

Arrive early and spend the day learning about 18^th century life in Kentucky. See militia and settlers camps, 18^th century cannon-firing demonstrations, Native American village, merchants, traders, food, and more. Visit the Museum Store and 18^th century Transylvania Store. This event is free with regular fort admission.

In addition to the reconstructed fort, the park also has a campground, hiking trails, the Kentucky River Museum, mini-golf, picnic shelters and a gift shop. Fort Boonesborough is located near Richmond. From I-75, take exit 95 to KY 627. On I-64, exit at Winchester to KY 627. For more information, call 859-527-3131.
