Barren River Hosting First Geocaching Weekend Oct. 27-29
LUCAS, Ky. – Barren River State Resort Park near Glasgow will be hosting its first Geocaching Weekend on Oct. 27-29.
Geocaching is an adventure game that uses technology and global positioning system units (GPS units) to locate the cache. These units use satellites to determine your position on Earth and can be used to pinpoint locations.
Participants in this event will learn about geocaching and participate in guided geocaching adventures at different ability levels. This is an ideal event for beginners. Registration is $15 per adult and $10 for children and includes all events and a t-shirt. It’s recommended that you bring your own GPS unit, but you will be able to participate if you don’t have one. There will be prizes awarded.
For more information and to register early, contact Lisa Deavers at 800-325-0057 or email her at lisa.deavers@ky.gov. Registration at the park starts at 4 p.m. (CT) on Friday at the park lodge.
