Spring Hoot 5K Set For May 12 at Barren River Lake State Resort Park

LUCAS, Ky. – Barren River Lake State Resort Park wants to know:  Who…who…who… will fly past the competition in the park’s Spring Hoot 5K race on May 12?

This is the second race in the Kentucky State Park Race Series. Run or walk this challenging course that takes you through the beautiful scenery of the park.

Awards will be presented for each division and overall male and female winners for the 5K run. Prizes will also be given and all participants are eligible.

The registration fee is $15 run/ $10 walk if you register by May 11 and includes a T-shirt and goodie bag. Registration fee is $20 run/ $15 walk if paying the day of the race, and T-shirts and goodie bags are only available while supplies last.

• May 12, Spring Hoot 5K at Barren River State Resort Park near Glasgow;
• June 9, Possum Ridge 5K at Taylorsville Lake State Park at Taylorsville;
• July 14, Magnolia 5K at Rough River Dam State Resort Park near Leitchfield; and
• Aug. 18, Turkey Strut 5K at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park near Jamestown.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park is surrounded by rolling, tree-covered hills, on the edge of a beautiful 10,000-acre lake. Barren River has 51 lodge rooms, 22 cottages, and 99 campsites.   Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of an upscale fish camp in the Driftwood Restaurant.  If you are looking for something to do during your visit, you can play on the 18-hole golf course, hike along a nature trail, visit the marina to rent a boat, check out a fishing pole or sports equipment, browse the gift shop, or just enjoy a peaceful seat overlooking the lake.

The resort is located 44 miles southeast of Bowling Green. Take I-65 to the Cumberland Parkway east, to US 31E south.
