LUCAS, Ky. – Barren River Lake State Resort Park will host its annual Youth Boot Camp on Nov. 3.

Bring your young “soldier,” ages 6 to 16, to this fun morning of "boot camp." The drill sergeants will have the troops in line in no time, ready to carry out many fun skills.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and events start at 9 a.m. Activities include paintball gun, an obstacle course, radio communications and first aid.  Boot camp will conclude with drill followed by a light lunch. The registration deadline is Nov. 1. The fee is $5 per child and includes all activities, lunch and a camouflage bandana. Contact Jamie Avery at 1-800-325-0057 or jamie.avery@ky.gov for more information.

The park is surrounded by rolling, tree-covered hills, on the edge of a beautiful 10,000-acre lake. It has 51 lodge rooms, 22 cottages, and 99 campsites for you to stay at the park. Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of an upscale fish camp in the Driftwood Restaurant.  If you are looking for something to do during your visit, you can play on the 18-hole golf course, hike along a nature trail, visit the marina to rent a boat, check out a fishing pole or sports equipment, browse the gift shop, or just enjoy a peaceful seat overlooking the lake.

The resort is located 44 miles southeast of Bowling Green. Take I-65 to the Cumberland Parkway east, to US 31E south.
